Controversial Images Take Flight
The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform (CBR) Midwest officially launched the 2006 Ohio Key States Initiative (KSI) in Columbus on April 26, 2006. The project involves the operation of Tow Banner Airplanes displaying 35’ x 100’ color photos of aborted human embryos and early fetuses. KSI will fly Ohio skies until Election Day November 7, 2006.
Why?
Stationary billboard companies refuse our message. TV, radio, and newspapers allow a double standard. They often censor the grim reality of abortion while permitting horrifying images of dead Americans in Iraq, etc. to be broadcast and printed. CBR’s airplane tow banners create an alternative mass media designed to bypass press censorship of the pro-life message. As a result, thousands of Ohio residents will view our billboards in the coming weeks, months, and years. Our efforts will be very successful in raising the issue of abortion in the minds of Ohio voters for the upcoming 2006 election.
CBR Midwest’s Executive Director, Mark Harrington, was interviewed by the local press. In a comment on Columbus’ NBC affiliate WCMH, Mark said, "We believe that there's a double standard out there. You can show all kinds of other horrifying images, but you can't show abortion. We're not going to accept that. The project is working. We've got people talking, debating it, and people won't forget these pictures once they see them.”
CBR Midwest Plane Needs New Billboard
Our current banner which displays a 10 week aborted baby needs to be replaced. With your help the new banner will fly all over Ohio soon. The new banner will read “This is Roe v. Wade” juxtaposed next to a first trimester aborted baby.
Please help us. The new CBR Midwest airplane banner will cost $8000.00. If 18 supporters gave just $500 each, we could replace the old banner and be ready for the summer and fall. If just 36 donors gave $250 each, CBR Midwest could continue to reach thousands of Midwesterners with the reality that abortion is an act of violence that kills a baby. All gifts are considered generous and fully tax deductible.

Teen Pact Impacted by CBR Director
TeenPact is a comprehensive leadership experience that challenges students to grow both personally and spiritually. During TeenPact, students enjoy meeting and interacting with other Christian young people and leaders from across Ohio. Students come away from TeenPact with a realization of their spiritual capacity as young people and a desire to change America for Christ.
On May 1, 2006 Mark Harrington had the privilege to present an argument for the biblical position of the jurisdictional separation for church and state to a full house and the Ohio State Capitol. The crowd of some 100 young people represents the future decision makers. I exhorted them to run for political office to reform America for Christ.
Baby Saved at Oregon State University
A pregnant Oregon State University student with three of her friends was standing in front of the Genocide Awareness Project (GAP) in tears. One of our volunteers asked her if she was alright. One of her friends said, "She is going to kill her baby." This new mom then said, through her tears, "I can't do it. After seeing this, I can't do it."
Although we are very excited when we are able to see babies saved immediately, the purpose of GAP is very much a "seed" planting type of education. Pro-abortion students may not change their mind on the spot, but walk away with something that God will use to prick their conscience. Many times the fruit of this project comes years down the road as these students who have had the true picture of abortion etched into their mind, will very often reason to a more humane response when it comes to a crisis pregnancy where they may be either directly or indirectly involved. GAP continues to change the abortion debate one person at a time.
CBR’s Campus Pro-life Display Destroyed
CBR displayed the Genocide Awareness Project (GAP) at Western Washington University last month. The pro-life display was virtually destroyed by one, obviously pro-abortion, male student who was observing the campus approved display.
According to police, a Western Washington University student did $2,700 of damage to the display that shows pictures of aborted fetuses next to images of genocide. Pro-life students stood helplessly by as David Janus Zhang, 21, jumped over the three-foot high aluminum fencing surrounding the exhibit and proceeded to systematically tear down the entire display. At one point Zhang picked up one of the plastic pipes used for framework and hurled it like a spear through one of the signs. He used his hands to literally rip that sign to shreds and proceeded on to the next sign. When he had completed his destruction, the young man left the enclosure and rejoined a handful of pro-abortion supporters who had gathered to cheer him on. They all hugged their friend and gave him a rousing cheer and applause.
Campus police were called and as soon as the sirens could be heard, the young man, possibly realizing for the first time what he had done, immediately ran into one of the campus buildings. Within thirty minutes they had captured him and he was escorted to the police station. Charges are pending but Police indicated that he faces felony charges as well as campus disciplinary action.
The pro-life students, CBR staff, and volunteers were to be complimented for their calm demeanor during this assault on their freedoms.
CBR Note: Those that herald “choice” and “tolerance” are generally the most intolerant. What is it about “choice” when displayed would provoke pro aborts to violence? Could it be that the dirty little secret is a secret no more? Please stand with us a we prick the conscience of the nation by uncovering the secret of “choice.”
Unwavering,
Mark Harrington, Executive Director, CBR Midwest
